How We Chose

Something as personal as fragrance can be highly subjective, so choosing the top Gucci perfumes is a little different than choosing the best dishwasher or snow blower.

That being said, we made sure to include a variety of fragrances with different notes, from fruity floral blends to lush orientals. There are plenty to choose from for various moods and occasions. Most as well suited for every day use while a few are best reserved for a glamorous night out.

We also looked for fragrances with excellent reviews. Many of these perfumes have been top sellers for many years, truly standing the test of time. A few are new introductions.

Visual appeal is all part of what makes a designer perfume attractive, and that was taken into account as well. As you would expect from a major fashion house, each of these fragrances has a beautiful bottle that reflects the mood of the scent it contains, and will look lovely on top of a dresser or vanity.

What To Look For

When selecting any type of fragrance, it is important to remember that fragrance oils will react to your individual body chemistry, including your unique blend of pheromones. What this means is that the same scent may appear different on you than it does on your sister, best friend or coworker.

All of our picks are either a Eau de Parfum or Eau de Toilette. An Eau de Parfum will have a higher concentration of the aromatic oils, making it longer lasting. A spritz while getting ready in the morning should last through the work day without completely disappearing. Eau de Toilette may need to be applied more frequently, which is appealing to some women who like to refresh throughout the day.

Another difference is that Eau de Parfum will typically be heavier on the middle notes, while Eau de Toilette will emphasize the lighter top notes.

When choosing a scent online, pay attention to the description. What do you find most appealing?  Floral, fruity, woodsy? Where are you planning to wear the perfume? Many women like to have a variety of scents to choose from depending on the occasion, while others like to have one signature scent that they are known for. The drawback of having a signature scent is that you can eventually become so accustomed  to it that you no longer notice it on yourself.

Visual appeal is important as well. Sometimes its not just the fragrance itself…the packaging and bottle add to the allure, especially with designer scents like these. Chose something that appeals to more than just your sense of smell. Just looking at a pretty bottle can lift your mood even before you spritz yourself.
